When not in use Pelican is a sculptural object. Its function is revealed only when a person seats themselves upon it: the fabric progressively stretches, wrapping the body until the textile reaches its maximum tension. Pelican comes from a vision I had while working on a school project in 2005. The idea was to create an abstract object that would reveal its function only when in use, therefore provoking a moment of surprise.
A prototype of Pelican was introduced at 'LE VIA des Ecoles' in Paris in 2007.
